Charles Hosmer Morse

Charles Hosmer Morse (September 23, 1833 – May 5, 1921) was the American founder of Fairbanks-Morse corporation, co-founder of the city of Winter Park, Florida and one of the founders and first trustees of Rollins College.〔()〕
Morse was born at St. Johnsbury, Vermont. He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy in 1850. Shortly after graduation he joined his uncle, Zelotus Hosmer, in the Boston office of E. & T. Fairbanks, marketing platform scales. He was promoted to the New York office, and then to Chicago. He established the firm of Fairbanks, Morse & Company in 1866. In the 1880s, he became one of the earliest residents of Winter Park, Florida, and retired there permanently in 1915.
Morse was a prominent developer in Chicago, for whom Morse Avenue in far-north Rogers Park takes its name.
The Elizabeth Morse Charitable Trust〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=The Elizabeth Morse Charitable Trust : Homepage )〕 was created in the memory of his daughter.
